Working at Unai

Some work is better done remotely and some benefit from the spontaneity and randomness of being in the same room. So our team is remote, but every 3 months we’ll rent houses in one location (including a chef to cook for everyone). The goal is to spend a very intense moment working together in the same room and making the most out of it.

Low Level Software Engineer (C++/C)

​You’ll be responsible for the OS of the Unai standalone VR headset & box. This includes writing code for the IO (sensors, cameras, display) and making use of dedicated hardware to deploy our AI models and other real-time libraries.​

Hardware Electrical Engineer

You’ll be responsible for the PCB’s design of the Unai standalone VR headset, it’s sensors and wireless communication. This means working with high speed data signals. You'll also be involved in the low-level engineering to help us make use of the sensors.

AI and Computer Vision Engineer

You’ll be responsible for developing AI models to 3D animate characters based on live videos input. This will be used with the Unai standalone VR headset and it’s cameras to more realistically animate the players in real time.

SLAM Robotics Engineer

You’ll be developing the Inside-out tracking of the Unai standalone VR headset, allowing users to have a seamless experience that doesn’t require sensors outside the headset. You’ll be responsible for the SLAM system leveraging dedicated hardware.

3D Graphics and Animation, Software Engineer

You’ll be working on the Unai VR headset’s 3D graphics and animation technical challenges inside Unreal Engine. You’ll develop a character animation system that uses our AI animation models, as well as the avatar system. Those models track the player thru cameras inside the headset. You’ll assist the development and improvement of our AI animation models and be at the intersection of 3D animation and graphics and applied AI.

Lead C++ Developer

You'll be part of various aspects of the Unai standalone VR headset. You’ll make the building blocks of the Unai world in Unreal Engine, help integrate high performance computational libraries, develop the streaming between the box and the headset, as well as the multiplayer. This means working on the low-level of the headset, as well as Unreal Engine, the rendering pipeline, game development, and hardware acceleration.

Industrial Designer

You’ll be responsible for the design and manufacturing of the Unai headset and box, working in synergy with the engineering team. Whether it’s for testing multiple sensors, different optics, or displays, we’ll need lots of functional prototypes. You’ll help design those prototypes and find ways to build them fast.

3D Game Artist

You’ll be creating the 3D world of Unai, where people chill, make friends, and live their virtual life. You’ll help set the tone and artistic direction alongside the concept artists and will be responsible for bringing it to life in Unreal Engine. You’ll have a generalist role, from the modeling and texturing to importing it into Unreal Engine, using assets to create environments, and making it look good inside the engine.

3D Character Artist

You’ll be creating the avatars of the Unai world, where people chill, make friends, and live their virtual life. Human interaction is the core focus of Unai, and you’ll make the avatars they use to have those interactions. You’ll have to create the assets needed to build a system capable of having highly customizable characters that have very realistic emotional expressiveness, as well as the proper rigging motion behaviors to be used with our body tracking. You’ll work hand in hand with the concept artist and environment artist to create cohesive characters and with the engineering to reduce the uncanny effect.

Concept Game Artist and Art Direction

You’ll be responsible for the tone and styling of the Unai world and avatars where people chill, make friends, and live their virtual life. You’ll leverage our technical rendering ability to set the art direction and styling of a stunning virtual world that inspires people about what VR should be. You’ll create concept art for the environment and characters, try them, and build the world hand in hand with the 3D artists.
